For this week's lesson we have got an advanced fill between the kick, snare and hi hats. This of course can be played all over the kit, but for the sake of keeping a dry sound we can really focus on trying to play the lick cleanly. It sounds pretty cool and is a fun one to practice for sure! For this week's lesson we have got a killer 8 bar sequence to help intermediate level drummers work on their limb independence. For you more advanced drummers, there is a really fun and challenging version you can play with a more complex hi hat pattern. I have a lot of fun with this one, there are a number of ways to play each pattern with varying dynamics on the snare and kick. For this week's lesson we have got a funky four bar sequence to learn. The groove alone is intermediate level, with some interesting syncopation with the left hand and kick while our right hand keeps things locked down with solid 8th notes. We will then play the bell of the ride cymbal on every down beat, creating an advanced sounding groove that is really fun to play. For this week's lesson we take a look at that cool sounding Mozambique/funky Steve Gadd groove. I have recently been practicing and trying to internalise the hand pattern, while maintaining a simple four on the floor pattern with feet and am really enjoying the inter-play between the kick and the right hand pattern. It sounds great when you also experiment with the voicing around the kit with both hands, as well as accenting some of those left hand notes to provide a backbeat in certain places. I hope you enjoy!
